Donatas Banionis (1924 –  2014) was a Lithuanian actor. He has more than 80 credited roles in cinema and is best known for his performance in the lead role of Tarkovksy’s Solaris as Kris Kelvin. 

Solaris won the Grand Prix Special du Jury and the FIPRESCI prize at 1972 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for the Palme d”Or.
