CEREMONIAL FLAG SOYUZ MS-04 ISS EXPEIDITION 52
Ceremonial flag of Soyuz MS-04 ISS Expedition 452
The size of the flag is 39” x 59 “, double faced.
Soyuz MS-04 mission symbol design is inspired on the iconic Apollo 12 patch.
The classic sailing ship symbolizes the dream of flying in space. The vessel trails a stream of stars, as used in the patch for Expedition 52, which cosmonaut Yurchikhin was commanded during the second part of his stay on the International Space Station, symbolized by the single star to the left of the ship. Behind the ship in Earth-like colors is a depiction of Konstanin Tsiolkovsky’s design for a space station, while the border is similar in design to spaceship commander's Yurchikhin earlier Soyuz patches. His name and that of astronaut Fischer, together with the name of the spaceship incorporating the Roscosmos logo and the USA and Russian national flags occupy the border of the logo.
Soyuz MS-04 was a Soyuz spaceflight that launched on 20 April 2017 to the ISS. It transported two members of the Expedition 52 crew to ISS. Soyuz MS-04 was the 133rd flight of a Soyuz spacecraft. The crew consisted of a Russian commander Fyodor Yurchikhin and an American flight engineer Jack D. Fischer. It was the first of the Soyuz MS series to rendezvous with the Station in approximately 6 hours, instead of the 2-days orbital rendezvous used for the previous launches. It was also the first Soyuz to launch with only 2 crew members since Soyuz TMA-2.
